Collective Shout

for a world free of sexploitation

Hi, I went back to the shop and complained. I advised that given the type of shop it was, one frequented by children and teenagers, that I found the name of the product demeaning, offensive and against the standards our society would regard as acceptable. The female manager advised, "I didn't find the product offensive." I reiterated that it was and that something so offensive should not be stocked. The male partner at that time intervened saying, "You can't blame us for stocking a product!" I said that, "I can because you have made the decision to stop the product." At that point the female manager admitted that a friend of their's was involved with the product. The conversation became quite heated at this point and the male manager basically told me I didn't have to come into the shop.  I said that wasn't the point, as it was still exposing children and teenagers to the offensive name. I left at that point as I think I was about to be asked to leave.

One of my friends also stated that she thought the packing was deliberately designed to look alcoholic (something I hadn't considered) but when you see it among Coke, Fanta and Lemondade she is right it does stand out. I have attached a photo of the product and also the advertising poster stand they had on the counter.
