Lady Gaga's new perfume: a misogynist's dream

So, yeah, Gaga is at it again with her controversial, embrace your individuality, and stick-it-to-the-man antics. I get it: she’s creative and has taught us all about self-expression, blah blah blah. But what’s the deal with her ‘blood and semen’ themed perfume? Apparently it will enable those who wear it to smell like a high-priced hooker after sex. Just imagine if some guy had the bright idea to buy THAT perfume as a gift! I can’t imagine the recipient would be like, ‘Naww…you sure know how to make a girl feel special!”

Maybe this is for real, or maybe this is just Gaga up to her usual publicity-seeking antics. Either way it’s incredibly insulting and anti-woman. The only spheres blood and semen are celebrated in are porn and various other porn-related media -generally in violent and degrading contexts. I would even dare to say that this perfume will further consolidate an already pornified view of women.

I think it’s tragic that someone so celebrated for their individuality is so keen to conform to and promote misogyny.  I don’t know about you but there isn’t a man in this picture. Who are we gonna blame for this one? I can’t sit here and blame guys for their objectification of women when many of us are actually objectifying ourselves.
